Missouri
In Missouri, homeschooling is regulated by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Parents or guardians who wish to homeschool their children in Missouri must follow certain requirements, including:
- Notifying the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in writing within 10 days of starting to homeschool
- Providing the department with the name, age, and grade level of each child being homeschooled
- Ensuring that the child receives instruction in the subjects required by Missouri law, which include reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science
- Keeping records of the child's progress, including attendance records and samples of the child's work
- Administering an annual standardized achievement test or alternative assessment to the child, or having the child's progress evaluated by a qualified third party
