Nevada

In Nevada, homeschooling is regulated by the Nevada Department of Education. Parents or guardians who wish to homeschool their children in Nevada must follow certain requirements, including:
  1. Notifying the Nevada Department of Education in writing within 30 days of starting to homeschool
  2. Providing the department with the name, age, and grade level of each child being homeschooled
  3. Ensuring that the child receives instruction in the subjects required by Nevada law, which include reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science
  4. Keeping records of the child's progress, including attendance records and samples of the child's work
  5. Administering an annual standardized achievement test or alternative assessment to the child, or having the child's progress evaluated by a qualified third party
Families who do not follow these requirements may be subject to legal action. It is important for families considering homeschooling in Nevada to carefully review and understand the state's homeschooling laws, including Nevada Revised Statutes § 392.070 et seq., to ensure that they are in compliance.
